Teknowarta – A Toyota Innova carrying a delegation, including Muhammad Hilman Mufidi, widely known as Gus Hilman – a member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission X from the PKB Faction – was involved in a severe accident on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road on Saturday afternoon, May 23rd.
The incident occurred precisely at KM 834, in Pohsangit Lor Village, Wonomerto District, Probolinggo Regency. Tragically, two of Gus Hilman’s staff members were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The two fatalities were identified as Alex Anwaruh, 25, a resident of Gresik Regency, and Adinda Najwa, 26, from South Tangerang City. Both victims were passengers in the same vehicle as Gus Hilman at the time of the fatal collision.
Meanwhile, Gus Hilman, also a resident of South Tangerang City, miraculously survived the deadly crash, though he sustained injuries. The 25-year-old politician was promptly rushed by officials to Ar Rozy Hospital in Probolinggo City for medical attention.
According to Aipda Muhammad Taufik Rahardian, Head of Law Enforcement for the Probolinggo City Police Traffic Unit, the Toyota Innova, bearing license plate N 1297 NB, was being driven by Mahrus Ali, 36, a resident of Paiton, Probolinggo Regency.
The vehicle carried three passengers: DPR RI Commission X member Gus Hilman, and his two accompanying staff members, Alex and Adinda, who tragically perished in the incident.
The incident reportedly began as the Toyota Innova was traveling from east to west – heading from Probolinggo towards Pasuruan – in the right lane. Upon reaching the scene, a dump truck was observed moving in the same direction directly ahead of their vehicle.
“This truck was traveling in the left lane,” Aipda Taufik stated, as quoted by Radar Bromo, Jawa Pos Group, on Sunday, May 24th. Due to the high speed at which the Toyota Innova was traveling, a collision between the two vehicles became unavoidable.
The Toyota Innova, carrying Gus Hilman, subsequently collided with the rear of the dump truck, which bore license plate W 8439 UK. The dump truck was being driven by Imam Subekti, 49, a resident of Jombang.
He added that the driver of the Innova was allegedly drowsy or lacked concentration, causing the vehicle to swerve left and strike the right rear side of the dump truck’s bed.
The extremely violent impact resulted in extensive damage to the Toyota Innova, particularly to its front section and left-side body. Both the Innova and the dump truck have since been evacuated from the crash site.
“We immediately conducted a crime scene investigation and evacuated all victims to Ar Rozy Hospital,” Aipda Taufik concluded. “Mahrus Ali will be referred to Lumajang, while Muhammad Hilman Mufidi has been referred to Dr. Soetomo General Hospital for further treatment.”
