A tragic road accident involving Muhammad Hilman Mufidi, widely known as Gus Hilman, a prominent member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), occurred on Saturday afternoon. The politician’s vehicle crashed on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road (Paspro) at KM 834, resulting in the immediate deaths of two individuals at the scene.
Confirming the incident, Aipda Muhammmad Taufik Rahadian, Head of the Probolinggo City Traffic Law Enforcement Unit (Satlantas), stated on Saturday evening that “the accident took place on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road (Paspro) at KM 834, specifically on lane B, within Posangit Lor Village, Wonomerto District, Probolinggo Regency.” The two fatalities have been identified as Alex Anwaruh (25) and Adinda Najwa (26), both staff members accompanying Gus Hilman’s delegation. Fortunately, Gus Hilman, a politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB), and his driver sustained only injuries and were swiftly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Prior to the tragic crash, Gus Hilman’s entourage had been attending a seminar and roadshow event at Nurul Jadid University in Probolinggo, concluding their official engagement before embarking on their return journey.
Aipda Muhammmad Taufik detailed the vehicles involved: a Toyota Innova with license plate N-1297-NB, driven by Gus Hilman’s driver, Mahrus Ali, and a dump truck bearing license plate W-8439 UK, operated by Imam Subekti. The Innova was carrying Gus Hilman, Alex Anwaruh, and Adinda Najwa at the time of the collision.
Explaining the sequence of events, Aipda Taufik stated that the Innova, with Mahrus Ali at the wheel and Gus Hilman, Alex Anwaruh, and Adinda Najwa as passengers, was traveling from Probolinggo towards Pasuruan – moving from east to west – in the right lane. As it reached the accident site, it encountered the dump truck, also traveling in the same direction. “The driver of the Innova vehicle is suspected to have been drowsy or lacked concentration, causing the vehicle to swerve to the left and collide with the right rear side of the dump truck,” he elaborated.
Consequently, the impact of the high-speed collision resulted in two fatalities and two injuries. All four individuals were immediately transported to Ar Rozy Hospital in Probolinggo City for urgent medical attention. The Innova sustained extensive damage, particularly to its front and left side, indicative of the severity of the crash.
