A tragic incident occurred on Monday evening (May 18) when a student from the Department of Architecture at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) was found dead on campus, located on Jalan Poros Malino, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The victim was discovered lying face down on a concrete path.
Confirming the discovery, the Head of the General Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gowa Police, Second Police Inspector (Ipda) Muh Alfian, stated on Tuesday (May 19) that the victim was first located by a peer.
The events leading up to the discovery unfolded as follows:
6:50 PM WITA
A witness received a voice note from the victim. In the message, the student indicated that they might no longer be alive and directed the witness to search for them behind the architecture faculty building.
Upon hearing the distressing message, the witness immediately headed to the Unhas campus while contacting another person for assistance.
7:00 PM WITA
The witness arrived on campus and rushed to the parking area behind the architecture building to locate the student. Shortly thereafter, the witness found the victim lying face down on the concrete path, unresponsive. The witness then requested help from others to evacuate the student.
Moments later, the victim’s father arrived at the scene. Together, they rushed the student to Yapika Hospital. Tragically, despite their efforts, medical personnel were unable to save the student, and they were pronounced dead.
7:45 PM WITA
Following the pronouncement of death, the family moved the victim to a funeral home.
10:00 PM WITA
The Inafis team from the Gowa Police and the Medical and Health Division (Biddokes) of the South Sulawesi Regional Police arrived at the scene and the funeral home. The victim was subsequently transported to Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar for further forensic examination.
