Police Commissioner Anwar Nasir, the Director of General Criminal Investigation for the Central Java Regional Police, confirmed that Asyhari was captured in Bakalan Village, Purwantoro District, Wonogiri Regency, by a dedicated joint team. “Yes, at 04:45 AM Western Indonesian Time, in Bakalan Village, Purwantoro District, Wonogiri Regency, by the Resmob Team of the Jatanras Unit of the Central Java Regional Police,” Anwar stated on Thursday, May 7, detailing the swift operation.
Following his capture, the alleged abuser was immediately transported to the Pati Police Station, where he is currently being held for detention and further questioning. Commissioner Anwar confirmed this, stating, “Yes, he was directly taken to the Pati Police Station.”
Earlier, Police Commissioner Artanto, the Head of Public Relations for the Central Java Regional Police, had indicated that Asyhari was suspected of fleeing outside the Central Java region. The suspect had also failed to comply with previous police summons for examination. “Investigators subsequently delved deeper with family members regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. The findings revealed that he was not at his residence and was believed to be outside Central Java,” Artanto informed reporters on Wednesday, May 6, underscoring the challenges faced by authorities.
Artanto elaborated on the broad scope of the pursuit, explaining that both the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation and the Directorate PPA-PPO (Women and Children Protection, and Human Trafficking) of the Central Java Regional Police provided crucial support to the investigation led by the Pati Police in this high-profile case. He further emphasized that the Jatanras Team (Sub-directorate of Violent Crimes) of the Central Java Regional Police was actively involved in tracking down the perpetrator.
