Alasan Uya Kuya laporkan akun penyebar hoaks: trauma penjarahan rumah

Prominent Indonesian public figure and DPR RI member, Uya Kuya, has initiated legal proceedings against several social media accounts for actively disseminating a baseless hoax. The false claim asserted that Kuya allegedly owns a staggering 750 MBG kitchens. Initially, the entertainer-turned-politician admitted he had no intention of filing an official complaint.

“When this hoax first surfaced on Threads last month, I felt incredibly annoyed, thinking, ‘Why me again? My name again?’ But I chose to ignore it then,” Uya Kuya stated from the DPR RI building on Tuesday (21/4). This initial reaction highlights his weariness from past experiences with misinformation.

However, his stance changed dramatically when the false narrative recently resurfaced and went viral again. Uya explained that he simply could not remain silent, driven by a harrowing memory: his home was once ransacked following the spread of a previous video hoax. He expressed a resolute determination to prevent such a traumatic event from befalling him and his family once more.

“When it suddenly boomed again last Friday, I thought, ‘I can’t stay silent about this.’ I was reminded of the previous defamatory incident, and it brought back that trauma. It was truly traumatic,” Uya elaborated. His words underscore the profound psychological impact that unchecked online defamation can have on individuals.

“My home was ransacked and all sorts of things happened because of a circulating hoax that featured text implying I had said those things. It was truly cruel,” he added. This vividly illustrates the severe real-world consequences that baseless online rumors can trigger, extending beyond mere reputational damage to tangible threats to personal safety and property.

Consequently, Uya made an earnest appeal to those responsible for fabricating and spreading such hoaxes, urging them to reflect with empathy on the potential harm caused. He also implored the public to cultivate greater maturity and wisdom when evaluating and processing news, advocating for a more discerning approach to information consumption.

“Just imagine, hoax creators, if this incident were to befall your own family—if you were the target of such slander and injustice, and your family suffered the repercussions. Try to consider it if the roles were reversed,” he emphasized. This powerful statement challenges perpetrators to confront the human cost of their actions and underscores the universality of vulnerability to misinformation.

Prior to these public statements, Uya Kuya had officially lodged a complaint regarding the alleged dissemination of false news or hoaxes with the Polda Metro Jaya (Jakarta Metropolitan Police). The report was formally registered under a Report Receipt Letter (STPL) on April 18, 2026, marking a significant legal step against digital misinformation.

The complaint specifically targets the alleged criminal act of spreading false information through electronic media, a violation meticulously addressed by Indonesia’s comprehensive Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). This legal framework provides the robust basis for Uya Kuya’s pursuit of justice against those who misuse digital platforms.

The genesis of this case traces back to a particular post discovered by Uya on the social media platform Threads. An anonymous account had uploaded an edited photograph of Uya, accompanied by a fabricated narrative that bore no resemblance to the truth, thus initiating the chain of events leading to this legal challenge.

The narrative embedded within that misleading post claimed that Uya Kuya possessed 750 MBG kitchens – an assertion swiftly identified and denounced as entirely false, a definitive hoax. This specific detail highlights the outlandish nature of the fabrication at the heart of the dispute.

Feeling profoundly harmed by the proliferation of this baseless rumor, Uya Kuya ultimately proceeded with filing the police report. As the complainant, Uya has already provided his statement regarding the details of his official grievance, further solidifying his commitment to addressing and rectifying the damage caused by digital misinformation.
