DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has set an ambitious target for the completion and operation of the new Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station. The Governor projects the station to be fully constructed by May 2026 and to commence operations in June 2026, significantly enhancing the city’s public transportation network.
This key timeline was revealed by Governor Pramono during a recent meeting held at the Ancol Pumping Station in North Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4). “We just concluded a meeting with the KAI President Director and their delegation. For the JIS Station, it is estimated to be completed in May and operational by June,” Pramono stated, underscoring the commitment to this vital infrastructure project.
The operationalization of the JIS Station is a crucial component of Jakarta’s broader strategy to bolster its transportation connectivity, particularly to the burgeoning JIS area within North Jakarta. This development aims to provide more convenient and efficient access for residents and visitors alike, supporting urban mobility.
Beyond the JIS Station, the DKI Provincial Government and KAI are engaged in discussions concerning several other strategic projects critical to Jakarta’s urban development. These comprehensive talks encompass not only the KRL services for the new JIS Station but also progress on the MRT completion and the revitalization efforts for Kota Tua, indicating a holistic approach to improving the capital’s infrastructure.
A significant highlight from the discussions is the planned development of a new electric train line spanning 16 kilometers. This vital new route will connect Rawajati all the way to Tanjung Priok. Governor Pramono emphasized that this new electric rail service is expected to “significantly help ease transportation in Jakarta,” providing a substantial boost to the city’s commuting options.
Furthermore, efforts are also underway to enhance station integration across key transportation hubs. Areas such as Dukuh Atas, along with BNI Station and Karet Station, are slated for integration. “We will integrate matters concerning Dukuh Atas, and also BNI Station and Karet; this will be carried out soon,” Pramono affirmed, promising improved seamless transfers and accessibility for passengers across the city.
