“Train G1046, en route from Tegalluar Summarecon to Halim, was temporarily stopped at KM 126+383 near the Kopo region on Friday, April 3rd, at 4:45 PM WIB,” Eva explained in a statement on Sunday, April 5th. She clarified that the precautionary stop was crucial to ensure the safety of the journey, necessitated by a foreign object – identified as a piece of zinc sheeting – that had entered the tracks due to extreme weather conditions.

Chairunisa further highlighted the efficacy of the Whoosh high-speed train’s advanced safety system. Its integrated sensors had proactively detected the presence of the foreign object, enabling immediate anticipation and intervention without compromising the train’s overall safety or the well-being of its passengers.

“The handling of the situation was efficiently completed by 4:48 PM WIB, and by 4:49 PM WIB, the train seamlessly resumed its journey,” she added. “Whoosh operations remained secure and returned to normal swiftly, without experiencing any significant delays.”

Eva also disclosed that on the very same day, Bandung City and its surrounding regions were indeed battered by extreme weather conditions. This included torrential rain, powerful winds, and intense lightning. Such severe weather had already led to numerous disruptions across the area, ranging from fallen trees to damage to vital public facilities on several main roads.

According to Chairunisa, these turbulent weather conditions were directly responsible for lighter objects, such as the zinc sheeting, being carried by the strong winds and subsequently landing on the railway tracks.

“While extreme weather can cause light debris like zinc to be blown onto the tracks, it is important to note that there were no disruptions to other railway infrastructure, and all components remained secure,” she explained, providing reassurance regarding the system’s integrity.

KCIC firmly asserts that all Whoosh operational tracks are consistently maintained in optimal safe conditions. This commitment is upheld through a robust monitoring framework.

“KCIC reiterates that all Whoosh lines remain secure and are continuously monitored through multiple layers of sophisticated safety systems,” Eva stated. “These critical systems encompass foreign object detection sensors, heavy rain and strong wind sensors, and an advanced earthquake detection system, all fully integrated with our central journey control system.”

Following the incident, a thorough inspection of the tracks was promptly carried out. This comprehensive check was crucial to guarantee that no further disruptions or potential hazards remained, reinforcing operational reliability.
