
A tragic traffic accident involving a motorcycle and an unidentified truck occurred on Friday (April 3) at approximately 7:30 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Jalan Utan Jati, Kalideres, West Jakarta. The devastating incident claimed the life of 51-year-old Ani Maryati.
Maryati was tragically pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe head injuries in the collision. At the time of the fatal crash, she was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Kartini (39), who also suffered injuries in the harrowing event.
According to AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of Law Enforcement Sub-directorate at the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, the collision unfolded as an unidentified truck, whose registration number and driver remain unknown, was traveling eastward on Jalan Utan Jati. Upon reaching the vicinity of Pasar Segar, the truck reportedly struck a Honda motorcycle, bearing license plate B 4833 BWM. The motorcycle, operated by Kartini and carrying Ani Maryati as a passenger, was proceeding in the same direction directly in front of the truck.
Authorities are currently engaged in a thorough investigation into the accident. Ruslani confirmed that the identity and whereabouts of the truck driver are still under active inquiry, with no further details provided at this time. Regarding the victims, Kartini received treatment at Kalideres Regional Public Hospital for bruises on her forehead and leg abrasions, and was subsequently discharged. In stark contrast, her passenger, Ani Maryati, suffered a catastrophic torn head injury, leading to her immediate death at the accident site.
Following the pronouncement of her death, Ani Maryati’s body was transferred to Tangerang Regency Hospital for a post-mortem examination, a crucial step in the ongoing police inquiry.
