DKI Jakarta, through its Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI), has officially declared its full support for the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) No. 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Operation in Child Protection (PP TUNAS). This crucial announcement was made by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) building on Monday, March 30, 2026, signaling the capital’s commitment to safeguarding its youngest citizens in the digital era.
“Jakarta will provide its full support for all regulations issued by the central government,” Governor Anung affirmed, highlighting the collaborative spirit between local and national authorities. He emphasized the profound importance of this policy, citing the increasing vulnerability of children to digital content unsuitable for their age. “The dangers and threats that can arise when underage children consume content before its due time will undoubtedly have negative impacts,” he added, underscoring the urgent need for robust child protection measures online.
To ensure the effective application of PP TUNAS within the capital, Governor Anung confirmed that derivative regulations would be promptly formulated. This vital process will involve close collaboration with the DKI Jakarta DPRD, ensuring that the policy is tailored to Jakarta’s unique context while maintaining national standards for child online safety. This proactive approach aims to create a secure digital environment where children can thrive without undue exposure to harmful materials.
Beyond local implementation, Governor Anung also reiterated Pemprov DKI’s unwavering commitment to adhering to central government policies in every step taken. “The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will follow all directives and regulations officially issued by the central government,” he stressed, reinforcing the unified approach to national policy enforcement.
The Government Regulation on the Governance of Electronic System Operation (PP TUNAS) officially became effective on Saturday, March 28, 2026. This landmark regulation coincided with the enforcement of the Komdigi Ministerial Regulation No. 9 of 2026, which notably prohibits children under the age of 16 from possessing social media accounts. Within its framework, PP TUNAS specifically mandates digital platforms to appropriately restrict children’s engagement with social media, thereby playing a critical role in fostering a safer and more protected online experience for youth across Indonesia.
