These included participating in Takbiran in North Sumatra, performing Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh, and hosting a ‘halalbihalal’ gathering with the community at Jakarta’s Merdeka Palace. This period of reflection and celebration provided a fitting backdrop for the President to extend ‘silaturahmi’ – a term embodying friendship and kinship – through direct phone conversations with his counterparts across the Muslim world.
