The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of 1,512 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) across Region II. This decisive action follows a comprehensive evaluation revealing critical non-compliance with established operational standards and significant deficiencies in essential facilities and infrastructure.
Albertus Dony Dewantoro, Director of Monitoring and Supervision for BGN Region II, explained that this measure is integral to a broader initiative aimed at refining the services provided under the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG). The overarching goal is to ensure that all operational facilities strictly adhere to stringent health, sanitation, and governance benchmarks set by the agency. “We have temporarily suspended the operations of 1,512 SPPGs,” Dony stated in Jakarta on Tuesday, adding, “This step is a direct result of our evaluation regarding the fulfillment of operational standards and the availability of crucial infrastructure and facilities at these units.”
The temporary suspensions stem from several SPPGs failing to meet fundamental operational prerequisites. A significant finding from the evaluation revealed that a staggering 1,043 SPPGs had not registered their Hygiene Sanitation Feasibility Certificate (SLHS), a crucial document certifying compliance with public health standards. Furthermore, BGN inspectors identified that 443 SPPGs were operating without Wastewater Treatment Plants (IPAL) that meet regulatory standards, posing potential environmental and health risks.
Beyond hygiene and infrastructure, the evaluation also uncovered a lack of suitable accommodation for key personnel. A total of 175 SPPG units were found to be without proper living quarters (mess facilities) for their Heads, nutritionists, and accountants, potentially impacting staff welfare and operational efficiency.
These 1,512 temporarily suspended SPPG units are geographically dispersed across various provinces within Region II. The breakdown includes 50 units in DKI Jakarta, 62 in Banten, a substantial 350 in West Java (Jabar), 54 in Central Java (Jateng), 788 in East Java (Jatim), and 208 in DI Yogyakarta. Specifically, the accommodation issues affected 36 units in Banten, 86 in Yogyakarta, 24 in West Java, 10 in Central Java, and 19 in East Java.
In response to these critical findings, the BGN is committed to providing comprehensive assistance and verification to the affected units. This support aims to guide them through the process of fulfilling all necessary requirements expeditiously.
