The wife of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, has reportedly passed away after receiving hospital treatment. This news was confirmed by the Tasnim news agency.
The 79-year-old Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh was tragically among the victims of a devastating Israel-US attack on Saturday, February 28. This was the same assault that claimed the life of Ayatollah Khamenei.
Critically wounded in the attack, Bagherzadeh had been hospitalized and in a coma since that fateful day, battling severe injuries before ultimately succumbing.
The Broader Toll of Escalating Conflict
Amidst the escalating regional tensions, the Iranian Red Crescent has provided an updated account of the casualties resulting from the recent Israel-US attacks. As of Monday, March 2, the humanitarian organization reported hundreds of fatalities across the nation.
The Iranian humanitarian group stated, as reported by AFP, “We report that 131 cities across Iran have been attacked by Zionist-US forces since Saturday, February 28. A total of 555 of our compatriots have been killed.” This tragic toll includes dozens of elementary school girls who lost their lives in Minab, South Iran. Approximately 160 individuals are also reported to have died, buried beneath rubble.
Meanwhile, on the opposing front, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the deaths of three soldiers due to Iranian attacks. Additionally, several other personnel sustained injuries from explosions, but are reportedly recovering and gradually returning to duty.
CENTCOM communicated via its X account that “the situation remains fluid, and out of respect for the families, we are withholding information, including the identities of the fallen soldiers.”
