The South Sulawesi Regional Police have revealed the motive behind the fatal assault on Bripda Dirja Pratama (19), a member of the Ditsamapta (Directorate of Samapta) unit, by his senior, Bripda P, at the police barracks. The tragic incident resulted in Bripda Dirja’s death.
According to the Head of Public Relations for the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Didik Supranoto, the suspect, Bripda P, committed the assault under the guise of “senior-junior mentoring” within the internal police environment. “The results of the investigation so far indicate the reason was senior-junior mentoring,” Didik confirmed on Tuesday evening (24/2). Despite this stated reason, Didik emphatically stated that such actions are utterly indefensible, particularly when they lead to a fatality. “Such violence is not justified,” he stressed.
Victim’s Family Demands Severe Punishment for Suspect
The family of the late Bripda Dirja Pratama is demanding severe punishment for Bripda P, advocating for both a dishonorable discharge (PTDH) from the police force and stringent criminal penalties. “We seek transparent law enforcement. Our hope, as the victim’s parents and family, is that the perpetrator receives a life sentence and is dishonorably discharged,” stated Aipda Muhamad Jabir, Bripda Dirja’s father, in a separate statement.
While acknowledging the prompt investigation by the South Sulawesi Regional Police into his son’s death, Jabir also expressed his gratitude. Nevertheless, he urged investigators to maintain transparency and delve deeper into the case, emphasizing that the probe should not be limited to a single suspect.
Jabir underscored the importance of a comprehensive disclosure, believing it is vital to secure justice for the victim and provide legal certainty for the grieving family.
