Following the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) meeting in the US, President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed optimism regarding increased humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also reaffirmed Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to a two-state solution for peace in Palestine.

President-elect Prabowo Subianto articulated his renewed optimism concerning the progress of humanitarian efforts and the pursuit of peace in Gaza, speaking after the first meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP). He underscored the critical need for unwavering determination to achieve lasting peace in Palestine.
“Alhamdulillah, it proceeded smoothly and successfully,” Prabowo told reporters in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, February 19th, local time. He further noted the significant advancements already made through these collective efforts.
Prabowo highlighted that considerable progress has been achieved, particularly in the delivery of vital humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. He emphasized that the current flow of food and essential supplies into Gaza is at its highest level in several years, ensuring that “food is sufficient, and other essential needs are flowing profusely.”
Despite these encouraging developments, Prabowo cautioned that numerous challenges still lie ahead. He stressed that the path to peace demands strong resolve and constant vigilance against potential hurdles. “It seems very serious,” Prabowo remarked. “While we are determined for this to succeed, as it offers hope for peace, I also mentioned in my brief statement that many difficulties, obstacles, and impediments still stand before us.”
Furthermore, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering commitment, alongside other Muslim-majority nations, to fostering sustainable peace for the Palestinian people. “We are obviously committed,” he affirmed, adding that “several Muslim nations have unequivocally reaffirmed our shared commitment to truly achieve lasting peace.”
Prabowo also decisively underscored that the two-state solution remains the only viable path toward long-term peace in the region. “For us: the real, the only long lasting solution is a two-state solution,” the President-elect stated emphatically.
In line with Indonesia’s robust support for global stabilization and peace initiatives, Prabowo conveyed the nation’s readiness to actively contribute to international missions. He indicated that an initial deployment of “advance groups” could commence relatively soon, potentially within the next “one to two months.”
The President-elect also confirmed that Indonesia has been invited to assume the significant role of Deputy Commander within the structure of this international mission. “Yes, they have asked us to be Deputy Commander,” Prabowo revealed. This commitment from President-elect Prabowo solidifies Indonesia’s consistent “free and active” foreign policy, prioritizing humanitarian concerns and strategically positioning the nation as a crucial partner in efforts to establish just and sustainable peace in the Middle East.
