Teknowarta – President Prabowo Subianto has officially appointed Major General (Ret.) Prihati Pujowaskito as the new President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Indonesia’s national health insurance agency. This significant leadership change, effective February 19, 2026, marks a pivotal moment for the institution responsible for managing the country’s extensive healthcare coverage program.

The appointment of the distinguished former military physician was formalized through Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17/P Year 2026. This comprehensive decree specifically outlines the honorable dismissal and subsequent appointment of both the Board of Supervisors and the Board of Directors for BPJS Kesehatan. Under this new mandate, President Subianto respectfully concluded the terms of all members of the previous Board of Supervisors and Board of Directors, whose tenure ran from 2021 to 2026.

Rizzky Anugerah, Head of Public Relations for BPJS Kesehatan, underscored the strategic importance of this leadership transition, stating that it is integral to reinforcing the institution’s overall governance. “This appointment is part of strengthening governance and the sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program,” Rizzky affirmed in a written statement released on Thursday, February 19.

Prihati Pujowaskito succeeds Ali Ghufron Mukti, who had served as President Director since 2021. Pujowaskito brings a profound depth of experience from his illustrious career as a military doctor, specializing in cardiology and vascular medicine, and also excelling as an interventional cardiology consultant. His extensive professional journey has predominantly unfolded within the military health sector. Immediately prior to his new appointment at BPJS Kesehatan, he held the esteemed position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Defense University (Unhan) from 2023 to 2025.
