Highlighting the profound significance of this annual event, Abu Rokhmad, the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at Kemenag, emphasized that the Isbat session serves as a vital forum, carefully upholding principles of prudence, scientific accuracy, and the collective unity of the Muslim community.

He elaborated that the Isbat session meticulously integrates hisab (astronomical calculation) data with the verifiable outcomes of the rukyatul hilal observations. “The government is committed to ensuring that the determination of the start of Ramadan is conducted scientifically, transparently, and with the involvement of all relevant stakeholders,” Abu Rokhmad stated in Jakarta, as quoted from Kemenag’s official website on Tuesday (February 17).

To complement the crucial hisab data, Kemenag’s rukyatul hilal efforts will span 96 strategic locations spread across the Indonesian archipelago. These intricate observations will be meticulously carried out by the provincial and district/city Kemenag offices, working in close collaboration with Religious Courts, various Islamic organizations, and other pertinent government agencies.

He affirmed, “We will collectively deliberate on the results from both the hisab calculations and the rukyat observations. The final decision will then be communicated to the public, serving as a unified guide for all Muslims in Indonesia.”
