Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided a crucial update regarding the fate of nine Indonesian nationals participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission. The Ministry confirmed that all these individuals have been detained by Israeli authorities.
“Based on the latest information (07:13 AM WIB), all nine Indonesian citizens, members of the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) who were part of the GSF 2.0 mission, have reportedly been arrested by Israel,” stated Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang in her official remarks on Wednesday, May 20. The Ministry is currently undertaking intensive diplomatic efforts to secure their release and ensure their safety.
In a comprehensive update, Yvonne elaborated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with Indonesian diplomatic representatives abroad, is engaging in rigorous discussions with local authorities and all relevant parties to guarantee the protection of these nine Indonesian citizens. She emphasized that all available diplomatic channels and consular measures will be maximized to ensure their full protection and safe return home. Concurrently, Yvonne conveyed the Ministry’s strong stance, urging the Israeli government to immediately release all vessels and crew members detained from the international humanitarian mission.
The identities of the nine Indonesian nationals arrested, according to data provided by the GPCI, are as follows:
