Brigadier General Prima Heru Yulihartono, Head of the Bhayangkara Level I Hospital, confirmed that the facility has received ten body bags since 3:00 AM. He noted that all ten victims currently being processed are female. “As of now, the Bhayangkara Level I Hospital has received ten body bags, all of which contain female victims,” Prima stated.

Identification Process Underway

The identification process is currently in full swing, involving multiple police units to ensure the swift and accurate matching of victim data. Brig. Gen. Prima explained that the hospital is collaborating with the Pusident teams from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, local police departments, and National Police Headquarters. “Once the initial processing is complete, we will move to the reconciliation phase to determine the match between antemortem and postmortem data,” he added.

Authorities are urging families who believe their relatives may have been involved in the crash but have not yet reported to come to the antemortem post immediately. This cooperation is vital for the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team to complete their work. To assist in the identification, families are requested to bring supporting documents, such as personal identification, fingerprint records, school diplomas, or photographs that clearly show the victim’s teeth.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the official toll from the disaster stands at 15 fatalities and 88 injuries. The sequence of events began when a taxi experienced an electrical failure and stalled on a level crossing in the Ampera area of East Bekasi. The stalled vehicle was subsequently struck by a Jakarta-bound KRL.

The impact of that initial collision caused a separate Cikarang-bound KRL to stop at East Bekasi Station. Tragically, while stationary, this train was struck from behind by the Argo Bromo Anggrek, an express train traveling toward Surabaya, leading to the high number of casualties currently being processed by medical and forensic teams.
