The remains of three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers, who tragically lost their lives while serving a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, have been repatriated to Indonesia. Their solemn journey began in Turkey and concludes on Indonesian soil, with their arrival anticipated at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang.

This significant update was shared by Brigadier General TNI Yuniar Dwi Hantono, Commander of Korem 072/Pamungkas, during a profound condolence visit. He paid his respects at the home of one of the fallen heroes, posthumously promoted Corporal Two (Kopda) Farizal Rhomadhon, in Ledok, Sidorejo Village, Lendah District, Kulon Progo Regency, on Friday, April 3.

Brigadier General Yuniar detailed the repatriation schedule, stating, “Tonight, the remains departed from Turkey en route to Cengkareng (Soekarno-Hatta Airport). Subsequently, tomorrow, from Cengkareng, they will be transported to Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base.” This multi-stage journey underscores the logistical precision involved in bringing the brave soldiers home.

Upon their arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, the fallen soldiers will be accorded full military honors as their remains lie in state, allowing for solemn ceremonies and respect before their final journeys.

Furthermore, Brigadier General Yuniar confirmed that the next of kin for Kopda Farizal—his wife, child, and mother—will be escorted by personnel from Kodim and Korem to Halim Air Force Base to receive their loved one, ensuring their comfort and support during this difficult time.

Following the ceremonies at Halim Perdanakusuma, two of the three repatriated soldiers will be flown to Yogyakarta. These include Kopda Farizal and posthumously promoted Sergeant First Class (Serka) Muhammad Nur Ichwan. Their arrival in Yogyakarta is estimated for Saturday evening, marking another step in their honorable return.

The burial service for Kopda Farizal is scheduled to take place at the Giripeni Heroes’ Cemetery in Kulon Progo on Sunday, April 5. This final resting place will commemorate his sacrifice for the nation.

The ceremony at Giripeni will be presided over by high-ranking military officials, including Lieutenant General TNI Chandra, Assistant for General Planning (Asrenum) to the TNI Commander, alongside the Regional Military Commander (Pangdam) and other distinguished guests, highlighting the profound respect for Kopda Farizal’s service.

Separately, for the burial of Serka Muhammad Nur Ichwan in Magelang, another dedicated team will be present, led by the Deputy TNI Commander, ensuring that both fallen heroes receive the highest military honors and recognition in their respective hometowns.
